About our home

Nestled away in a quiet, rural location just outside Braintree in Essex, Larchwood is a friendly, purpose-built care home with 64 beds, offering residential dementia care.

Residents have a wide choice of places to relax, dine and socialise, with seven sitting rooms and four dining areas as well as the popular hairdressing salon, memory room and a sunny conservatory. The attractive garden at Larchwood includes a delightful sensory area and a summer house, and provides a popular spot for Residents to catch up with friends and family. The bright, comfortable bedrooms and living areas are all easily accessible by wheelchair.

The home’s caring team has created a family atmosphere, encouraging everyone to eat and celebrate special occasions together. Residents are invited to decorate their rooms with small items of their own furniture and treasured belongings so that it feels just like home. Daily life is carefully designed to support mind, body and soul.

By Car

We are situated in a convenient location just outside Braintree town centre. From the A120, take the exit for Braintree (B1256) and follow signs into the town. Continue along Rayne Road, then turn onto Broad Road — the home is located on the right-hand side. Free on-site parking is available for visitors.

By Bus

Regular bus services run between Braintree town centre and nearby areas, with stops located a short walk from the home on Rayne Road and Broad Road. Please check local bus timetables for up-to-date route and service information.

By Train

The nearest station is Braintree Railway Station, approximately a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the home. The station offers direct services to Witham and London Liverpool Street, with taxis available outside the station.

On Foot

From Braintree town centre, the home can be reached on foot in around 15–20 minutes, following Rayne Road west and turning onto Broad Road.
