Meet Alan Wedge, a resident at Sedgley Court care home in Dudley.
‘My name is Alan Wedge, and I am 90 years old. I moved to Sedgley Court in April 2023 having been in hospital, and realising I needed help in day-to-day life.
When looking for care, it was important that I felt secure knowing there would always be someone there, and that I felt a sense of belonging – which is exactly how I feel at Sedgley Court.
Every morning, I wake up and enjoy a full English breakfast in the dining room, reading the papers and chatting to my fellow residents before getting ready for the day’s activities.
So far, I’ve taken part in quiz nights, book club, and exercise classes. I especially enjoy collecting the morning papers from the foyer and delivering them to everyone’s rooms – I call myself ‘the oldest paper boy in town’!
The best thing about living at Sedgley Court is always having the feeling of being wanted. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here and I’m very content.
If you are looking for a care home, don’t delay – get yourself to Sedgley Court! This is care at its best.’
