Young meets old at Cardiff care homeHC-One’s Quarry Hall care home in Cardiff has welcomed pupils from a local primary school for an intergenerational project during October.

Every Wednesday afternoon for the last four weeks, children from Pen Y Bryn Primary School have visited Quarry Hall accompanied by Family Engagement Officer, Helen McDonald and parents to spend time with Residents.

The partnership between the school and the home was forged after seeing the success of intergenerational relationships displayed on Channel 4’s ‘Old People's Home for 4-Year-Olds’ TV series.

The group have enjoyed socialising together while completing different arts and crafts projects after the craft session is finished the children and Residents enjoy biscuits and refreshments together.

At the end of each afternoon, pupils are given special ‘goodie bags’ to take and they gift their arts and craft projects to the Residents. The sessions have proved to be popular with both the Residents and children, with all commenting that it’s great to spend some time together.
