Yorkerburn Nursey pay a visit to Glasgow Care HomeA group of children from Yorkerburn Nursey paid a visit to HC-One’s Quayside Care Home in Yoker, Glasgow to meet the team and to learn all about their job roles within the home.

Yorkerburn Nursery are regulars at Quayside, with the children helping out at fetes and around Christmas and their visits always bring a smile to the Resident’s faces.

Wellbeing Coordinator Anne showed the children to the laundry room first, where they learnt all about the daily routine for washing, drying and ironing and even gave a helping hand to match socks.

The children were fascinated with their next stop, meeting Chef Johnny in the kitchen, where they were all given special white catering hats on arrival. They enjoyed seeing all of the different machines, particularly taking interest in the chip machine and the size of the mixer.

Sharon, a Nurse at Quayside, took the children through her main responsibilities before showing them different aspects of her job. They all listened to each other’s heartbeats through the Stethoscope, learnt how to fill a syringe with water and tested their blood pulse, which was their favourite thing to try.

Their last stop was to meet Carer Catherine who told them all how she helps the Residents, before setting the tables for dinner together.

Quayside’s General Manager, Susan MacDonald commented:

“We have a great relationship with Yokerburn Nursery and our Residents love it whenever the children visit.

We were thrilled to help with the nurseries Career Day as part of their National Curriculum and we hope to see them again soon.”
