World Poetry Day celebrations at Cambridge care homeHC-One’s The Cambridge care home in Cambridge celebrated World Poetry Day with a very special recital from students at Parkside Community College.

Residents at The Cambridge are passionate about poetry and have weekly readings, so it was important to them to celebrate World Poetry Day.

Students from Parkside Community College visited The Cambridge and recited poems from around the world. Afterwards they stayed for afternoon tea and shared stories with the Residents.

The day was extra special for Resident Thomas Eatough as he used to be Head Teacher at Parkside Community College. After being retired for 26 years he enjoyed meeting the students and listening to them recite wonderful poetry.

Thomas Eatough, a Resident at The Cambridge said:

“It is unbelievable that all of the students at the College were born after I had retired. It was great to meet them and celebrate World Poetry Day together.”

Elizabeth Addae, Home Manager at The Cambridge said:

“A great day was had by all, it was lovely to welcome the students to the home and celebrate World Poetry Day.”
