Winters Park Resident gets his independence back with a little help from two wheels!Jim, who is one of the Residents at Winters Park in Penrith which offers residential care and residential memory care for those living with dementia, has been given his independence back with the help of a scooter.

Lately, Jim has been finding it increasingly hard to get around as much as he would like, due to him getting much more tired than he used to.

He was an avid gardener throughout his life and misses being outside.

Jim has no family members to assist him, so Kate Lewis, the Care Home Manager and David, a Maintenance
Operative said they would help him find a scooter for him to get around on.
After looking for a short time Kate and David managed to find Jim one, this was delivered to the home by a kind gentleman.

Jim remarked, “I am absolutely delighted to have my independence back again and look forward to the future as this will such a difference and I promise I’ll try not to go too fast!”

Kate commented, “I’m delighted to help Jim get his independence again, there is no place Jim would rather be than in the garden”.
