At HC-One’s Market Lavington residential, nursing and residential memory care home, two Colleagues arranged a particularly enjoyable animal themed activity which has gone down a treat!
Caroline Watson, who is the manager of the Vicarage Gardens Unit, and Care Assistant, Lorraine Hall, organised a wonderful arts and crafts activity for Residents this afternoon. It was in conjunction with Dementia Week and the activity was also geared towards the home’s usual ‘Stop the Clock’ event this month, with the theme of ‘Animals’.
Residents made beautiful and stimulating collages of animals and used the wonderful resources of the Active Minds Company; creating ‘magic’ watercolours of animals. There were also colouring books which Residents engaged with, and it was such a lovely, peaceful yet stimulating afternoon for everyone!
Caroline said, “It was so lovely seeing our Residents enjoying this activity. It was clear they very much enjoyed choosing the animal photos and the colours of the background.”
“They also loved the surprise of the colours ‘magically’ appearing using the special watercolour pictures.”
Ida Wearing, who lives at Market Lavington, commented on the crafts, “Oh it’s lovely!”
Fellow Resident, Pam Johnson, added, “Colouring in is relaxing.”
Lorraine remarked, “I am looking forward to this as our contribution to the ‘Stop the Clock’ event. The Residents took a lot of enjoyment from expressing themselves with this activity. I loved seeing the smiles on their faces when they were doing it!”
