Wiltshire care home Residents welcome their new visiting podA newly installed visiting pod is a welcome sight for the Residents at HC-One’s Avon Court care home in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The pod means that families can now visit Residents in a safe environment for a face-to-face chat. Colleagues at the home have been working very closely with Public Health England to ensure that the pod follows all infection control measures so that everybody can stay safe.

The pod is located in the home’s back garden and has two entrances – one for Residents and one for visitors. It has wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screen so that Residents can see their Relatives and enjoy a chat with a cup of tea.

Vera, a Resident at Avon Court, said: “It looks lovely! With spring on the way, it will be a nice environment to spend time with loved ones.”

For many care home Residents across the UK, their only contact with family has been through phone calls or video chat so having the new visiting pod and being able to see their families has boosted morale and raised spirits throughout Avon Court.

Colleagues at the home have worked extremely hard over the past year to ensure all Residents are safe and happy and they are delighted now to have the opportunity to resume family visits.
