Willow Court Residents Celebrate a 70 Year Marriage
Ken and Joyce Foster, Residents at HC-One’s Willow Court Care Home in Lincoln recently celebrated their Platinum Wedding Anniversary with a special celebration at the home.
 
The couple have been at the home since July 2016 and met in 1946. They have lived in Cherry Willingham for 34 years so are well known within the community.
 
When they first met, Ken was a wartime solider home on leave from Middle East, and Joyce was a land girl. They met in a cottage that Joyce was lodging in at the time.
 
The couple both took a keen interest in drama after moving to cherry Willingham with Joyce a treasurer in the local drama group and Ken was a player.
 
Both Ken and Joyce have been members of local church since they moved into village. 
 
Ken and Joyce received an abundance of cards and flowers from relatives, friends and staff. They enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea with their friends from the home and surrounding villages and even some local dignitaries - chair from West Lindsey District Council, Angela Lawrence, village Rev Sue Bradley and Rev Canon Penny Green, who popped in to wish the couple their best.
 
The main table was arranged with the couple’s huge family tree along with wedding photos, balloons and a special anniversary cake.
 
The couple even received a card from the Queen to mark the occasion.
 
Ken Foster, remarked:
“It was a total surprise! It’s so wonderful to see all of our old friends.”

“We would like to congratulate Ken and Joyce on this huge milestone in their relationship! They are a wonderful couple and much loved in the home. Everyone really enjoyed the whole afternoon!.”
