Barbara, a Resident at HC One’s Ferndale Court care home, decided she wanted to become a part of the team by helping out for the day.
Ferndale Court promotes and encourages independence in the daily living of the Residents, which Barbara has been more than keen to keep on board with by signing herself up to become a ‘Colleague’ for the day!
Barbara entered the Widnes care home office one day and expressed that she was ready to start her jobs. Staff at the home had previously noticed that Barbara enjoyed sorting and folding clothes and putting washing out, so without hesitation signed her up as a recruit on the domestic team.
Barbara spent time sorting the hangers for pants and tops and also getting rid of any broken or bent hangers – she will definitely be passing her probation with flying colours! After all this hard work Barbara took her well-deserved break, smiling away.
Barbara really came out of her shell that day and shown the staff who was boss! Another one of the Residents witnessed her efforts and commented “I think I may have to get a job also!”
