Whitley Bay care home Residents play Pontoon and Play Your Cards RightResidents at HC-One’s Eastbourne House care in Whitley Bay recently enjoyed a coffee morning, where they took part in their own version of the classic games, Pontoon and Play Your Cards Right.

Eastbourne House have recently started back up their regular coffee mornings for Residents, where Head of Service, Diane Redford sets up the Tea Room with fine china tea sets and full table service and serves tea, coffee and freshly made cakes.

Whilst Diane is doing this, Francesca Pattison, Eastbourne wellbeing coordinator plays a game or does an activity with the Residents. Francesca ensured that all Residents maintained social distancing, with only one per table and the correct distance between.

Diane Redford, Eastbourne’s Head of Service said: “It was wonderful to see them all mixing, socially distanced of course. They seemed to have a really good time.”

Due to the distancing restrictions a maximum of only 9 Residents can be present at one time. Because of this, Eastbourne will be offering the mornings three times a week to ensure everyone has an opportunity to attend.

During September 17th coffee morning, Diane had fresh muffins with frosting and pink sprinkles to serve alongside the tea and coffee. Francesca played ‘Play Your Cards Right’ with the attendees and then changed and played Pontoon.

Francesca Pattison, Eastbourne House wellbeing coordinator said: “I think the morning was really successful and we cannot wait to do it again for other Residents. We are going to work hard to keep it fresh and innovative with different experiences. All the attendees loved the change and enjoyed their tea and cakes.”
