White Rose House celebrate Resident’s 90th Birthday and a family reunionA Resident at White Rose House in Huddersfield which offers residential and residential memory care, for those living with dementia, celebrated her 90th birthday but also a family reunion.

Jean who is a Resident at the home has a son who lives in Canada and has not seen him since November 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic but also struggles with regular contact with him due to the time difference.
The staff decided to keep it a surprise that her son had come over to the UK to be able to see her on her 90th birthday.

Colleagues got Jean to sit in the garden whilst the staff sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for her son to walk in at the same time, as you can imagine tears were shed by all.

The expression on her face when she realised who it was said it all and other Residents enjoyed witnessing this occasion and said how special the moment was.

One of the Residents said “Aww how lovely, her son has come to see her " and what was lovely was the fact that Jean had no idea her son was in the UK.

Jodie Seymour, Care Home Manager said, “My heart melted when I saw the look on her face after so long, she doesn’t have other visits so this was very special and lovely to see”.
