West Derby Resident exercise clubAs everything has been so different this last year, one thing that remains constant is the need to maintain fitness levels. This is something the team at Bellefield care home, on Merseyside, always holds this as a high priority on the activity list,

Home Manager Jackie Bridge, along with Activity Coordinator, Lyndsey, work on strengthening core, and maintaining muscle mass by simple chair exercises. All Residents can join in with it, regardless of what their ability levels are.

This is a really important activity as it helps with walking, reduces falls risks and helps with appetite, which is significantly important for Residents.

Exercise club also contributes positively to mental health and encourages everyone to socialise, lifts spirits, and supports a lot of laughter while Residents listen to some encouraging music.

Paul, who lives at Bellefield, laughed, “I wish I could still dance, I would have given you a run for your money Lyndsey.”

Jackie, commented, “We try to have a regular day each week, we try to make the sessions really engaging for the Residents, and not forgetting fun too!”
