Weekly visitors at Aberdeen care homeResidents at HC-One’s Hamewith Lodge in Aberdeen enjoy weekly visits from therapy dog, Mackenzie and children from Heathryburn Nursery.

Every Wednesday morning, Lorna and her dog, Mackenzie visit Hamewith Lodge to spend time with the Residents. Mackenzie is a big hit with Residents at the home, who love making a fuss of him during his visits. It also encourages those who have had their own dog or other pet in the past to reminisce about their favourite memories.

Children from Heathryburn Nursey have been visiting Hamewith Lodge every Friday afternoon since the end of October. During the visits, the Residents and children participate in a variety of activities together, from reading to dancing. Residents now look forward to the weekly visits, the laughter of the children always brings a smile to everyone’s face.

Susan Ashton, Home Manager at Hamewith Lodge said:

“Our regular visits from Mackenzie and the lovely children from Heathryburn Nursery are part of the fun-filled, varied calendar of events and activities that are organised for Residents.

“These weekly social interactions have a significant impact on the mental and physical wellbeing of Residents at Hamewith Lodge. We look forward to opening our doors to the local community throughout 2019.”
