Weekly movie nights promote social inclusion at Foxton CourtEvery Wednesday HC-One’s Foxton Court Care Home in Morpeth, Northumberland, hosts a film evening in the home, complete with snacks and an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy.

The idea was originally put forward at one of the Resident meetings and is an event that they all really look forward to.

After the evening meal, everyone who wants to take part gathers in the lounge to watch a film that is picked out of a hat on the day of the showing. On this particular Wednesday, Mamma Mia was chosen as the film of the evening, as the Residents love a sing-a-long and really enjoy listening to Abba on the Alexa.

The Residents sang along to the film with huge smiles on their faces. They all enjoy these evenings, as they are able to watch a large variety of films, some golden oldies and some modern movies. It also allows them the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the sweet treats on offer.

Louise Day, Deputy Manager at Foxton Court, commented:

“It’s brilliant that this is something that the Residents themselves suggested and that it has been accepted with such great attendance every week.

It’s fantastic to see so many of them coming along week after week to enjoy the films and the treats; it is something that is really enjoyed by all of the Residents.”
