Walsall care home Residents make cheesecake at baking clubResidents at HC-One’s Ash Grange care home in Walsall were full of smiles during their weekly baking club where they got their hands sticky making a cherry cheesecake.

On 21st May, each Resident got to vote what type of cheese cake they wanted to make. After counting up the votes, Residents came to the group decision that they were going to make a cherry cheese cake. The Residents took it in turns to bash the biscuits until they were crumbs, where others poured the butter into the biscuits and mix it creating the base of the cheese cake.

Secondly, the tastiest part was making the cheese filling. Residents scooped three scoops of cheesecake powder into the bowl whilst others poured in the correct amount of milk, making it a real team effort.

Each Resident took it in turns to give the mixture a mix. In the end, Residents had successfully created their cheese part of the cheese cake without lumps. After finishing putting the cake together, it was then put into the fridge to set over lunch.

The Residents ended the day with a slice of cheese cake and a cup of tea, enjoying the fruits of their labour.

Ash Grange Home Manager said: “The Residents all really enjoyed the process of making the cheese cake, where they spoke and reminisced about the cakes they used to bake, where some laughed stating that they have never cooked in their life.”

Located in Bloxwich, near Walsall, Ash Grange is a friendly, comfortable care home with 42 beds, which offers residential and nursing care.
