Wallyford Care Home introduce new life stations for Memory Care ResidentsWriting, beauty and gardening stations have been introduced to the Memory Care Community at HC-One’s Drummohr Care Home in Wallyford to help spark memories and create opportunities for meaningful moments in the daily lives of those living with dementia.

Life stations are stages upon which activities and occupation happen, creating joy for Residents living with dementia. They are part of an initiative being rolled out by HC-One where they are being introduced to dementia-friendly environments.

At Drummohr, there has been a clear improvement in the lives of their Residents living with dementia; they light up as they recall memories and it has proved to be a relaxing activity for them.

Harmony is the name of the memory care service at HC-One, where quality of care for our Residents and quality of life have equal value and aims to enrich lifestyles with activity, improve emotional wellbeing, increase Resident engagement and provide an enabling and calming environment.

Drummohr’s Deputy Home Manager, Mirelle Fyvie commented:

“Our memory care life stations have improved the quality of life for our Residents immeasurably.

Since introducing the stations into Drummohr, Residents have been more relaxed, happy and confident, it’s amazing to see.”

HC-One’s Area Director, Julie Geddes commented:

“The staff team has embraced the new Harmony programme and they have sourced authentic materials for these life stations and worked collaboratively with Residents and relatives to help promote independence and supported engagement.”
