Wallyford care home host St Andrew’s Day celebrationsResidents at HC-One’s Drummohr Care Home in Wallyford, Musselburgh, flew the Scottish flag with pride as they celebrated St Andrew’s Day with fantastic food, a selection of beverages and traditional music throughout the day.

The home threw a Scottish celebration on Friday 30th November enabling Residents, families and the community to come together to enjoy the National day.

In true patriotic fashion, Residents and staff brought the Highlands to the Lowlands and wore their favourite or family’s tartan including hats, kilts and scarves. Hot Toddy’s were served throughout the day to blow the winter blues away and clear the throat for some singing.

Visitors enjoyed a host of exiting performances included a piper, traditional music which the Residents enjoyed singing and dancing to and in the afternoon, Scottish Dancers displayed their talents.

HC-One’s Area Director, Julie Geddes commented:

“It is very important for us to respect and encourage traditions and we knew a day of importance, such as this for our Scottish Residents, was worthy of a celebration.

“The celebration was enjoyable for everyone that attended and the Residents particularly enjoyed welcoming guests into their home.”

St Andrew’s Day celebrates Scotland’s patron saint, a fisherman well known for being strong, sociable and fair. He encouraged people to share what they had with those in need and wished for people to be kind and charitable.
