Wakefield care home residents hit top gear with dream day at Audi Wakefield

The wellbeing team at Hepworth House Care Home, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, revved up a plan for lifelong car enthusiast residents to enjoy an unforgettable visit to Audi Wakefield.

As part of the home’s commitment to nurturing the passions and interests of its community, the wellbeing team orchestrated a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Audi Wakefield for Hepworth House residents, Roy Hercliffe and James, also known as ‘Duncan’, Verity.

For Roy and Duncan, who have spent decades immersed in the world of motors – talking about them, tinkering with them, and treasuring the memories of cars they have owned – this was a dream come true.

The day kicked off with a VIP tour that took Roy and Duncan deep into the heart of Audi Wakefield. They marvelled at the gleaming showroom, peeked behind the scenes in the body shop, and even stepped into the boardroom for a rare glimpse of the action.

Surrounded by the latest models, the two were in their element, their eyes lighting up as they traced the sleek lines of cutting-edge cars and swapped tales of the classic engines they’d known and loved.

The lifelong car aficionados were left beaming with joy after they were given the chance to ride in a stunning Black Edition Audi A6 – an all-electric masterpiece that blends sleek design with jaw-dropping performance.

Ellie Linskill, Hepworth House Wellbeing Coordinator, said:

“This visit wasn’t just any outing we were lucky enough to receive a VIP tour of Audi Wakefield, which included exclusive access to the body shop, showroom, and even the boardroom.

“Roy and Duncan were truly in their element, exploring the latest models, chatting with the staff, and reminiscing about classic engines and memorable drives from their past.”

Debbie Manley, Hepworth House Care Home Manager, stated:

“These outings are more than just trips – they’re a celebration of identity, passion, and the power of community. We’re so proud to help our residents pursue what they love and live life to the fullest.”

Roy Hercliffe, Hepworth House resident, commented:

“I’ve been around a lot of motors in my time, all kinds of cars, but these were fantastic. They’ve certainly changed since my day! The staff were great, answering all my questions. I felt like I’d gone back in time – what a brilliant day.”

Duncan Verity, Hepworth House resident, added:

“Days like this remind me how good life can be. It was amazing seeing all the cars – I wish I’d have been driving around in one of them!”
