Wakefield care home remembers fallen heroes on Remembrance DayResidents and team members at HC-One’s Carr Gate care home in Wakefield paid their respects to fallen heroes on Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November.

Remembrance Day is observed by members of the Commonwealth of Nations to remember members of the military and armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

Carr Gate held a commemorative church service during which Residents remembered the Great War heroes who sacrificed their own lives in World Wars with readings and prayers.

During the service, members of the congregation united for two minutes of silence, reflecting on the past, remembering loved ones and thinking of those who are still serving in the armed forces.

Afterwards, local singer Karen Clegg performed traditional 40’s and war time songs as Residents watched and shared their appreciation for the service men and women have and continue to provide for our country.

Clare McCourt, Carr Gate home manager said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who attended the service and joining us in remembering the selfless sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

“Some of our Residents have lost loved ones during different conflicts so it was a cathartic experience for them to remember and pay their respects.”
