Staff and residents at Victoria Park Care Home in Coventry, have raised £2,335 for a breast cancer charity during Breast Cancer Awareness Month last month.
The money was raised through a fund-raising day for the Breast Cancer Now charity.
The team at Victoria Park contacted local businesses for donations, and over 20 responded with gifts for a raffle. There was also a cake stall, a stall offering delicious curry and rice, plus a tombola and bric-a-brac stalls.
There was a personal element to the fundraising too as the care home’s Wellbeing Co-ordinator since 2015, Bonnie Lamley, was diagnosed with stage 3 secondary breast cancer in August 2023 at the age of 35, while resident Betty Moore has been fighting breast cancer for the past three years.
Betty Moore, resident at Victoria Park Care Home, said:
“It was a great day making money for a great cause. We had a fantastic turnout.”
Tracey Allan, Deputy Home Manager at Victoria Park Care Home, stated:
“There was an amazing turnout, and we are delighted to have raised so much for a charity that means so much to us and is close to our hearts. Thank you to all who came along and contributed to a fantastic total.”
