Victoria Manor care home celebrates World Africa DayResidents and Colleagues at Victoria Manor care home, in Whitley, just outside Coventry, have been celebrating fellow Residents and Colleagues living and working at the home with African heritage.

Colleagues wore traditional clothing and enjoyed dancing and singing to traditional regional African music as part of the celebrations. Residents got involved in learning new dance moves and trying on traditional African head-dresses, which proved to be a big hit with everyone due to the bright colours and amazing detail of the items.

Colleagues were very proud to share their culture with the Residents and fellow Colleagues and talk about where they were originally from in Africa.

Kemilola, a Colleague at Victoria Manor, said:
“It made me very happy seeing everyone enjoying things from my culture and showing their appreciation”.

Meanwhile the Residents made their delight clear, with comments such as "it’s all so pretty", "this is really good" and "all the clothes are so bright and detailed".

Tina Booton, Care Home Manager, said:
“It has been wonderful to see everyone coming together and celebrating each other’s cultural heritage. Our Colleagues have been looking forward to this day and they were so happy to share their traditions and culture with other people, their pride shone through very brightly and it was such an amazing moment for us all”.
