VE Day remembered at local care homeResidents at HC-One’s Carders Court in Rochdale came together to recall their own memories of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, which marked the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender.

The 8th May is a date that remains in the minds of many who lived through the war and residents were keen to share their own experiences of what was the world’s most devastating war to date.

Staff held a VE Day Tea Party where around 40 Residents attended along with family members. Vocalist Carl Gordon joined the celebrations and entertained everyone with songs throughout the decades.

Resident Doris remarked:

“It has been an excellent afternoon as always!”

Activity Coordinator Sham Ahmed commented:

“It has been a very entertaining and successful afternoon. All of the Residents who attended enjoyed themselves!”
