Two Coventry care homes celebrate World Egg DayHC-One's Victoria Park care home in Stoke, Coventry, and Victoria Manor care home in Whitley, just outside of Coventry, both celebrated World Egg Day with special sessions celebrating all things eggs.

World Egg Day is an exciting opportunity to raise global awareness about the incredible benefits of eggs as an inexpensive and highly nutritious food source. There are numerous ways to participate in World Egg Day 2024 celebrations, which are taking place on Friday, October 11.

From creating a captivating egg sculpture using food to using eggs in a variety of ways, the possibilities are endless. Residents at HC-One’s Victoria Park care home and Victoria Manor care home were treated to a range of delicious egg dishes, freshly prepared by HC-One’s Group Development chef Pete Coles.

Pete encouraged residents to get involved in the making of the various foods. The selection of egg delicacies included homemade scotch eggs, mayonnaise, and egg sandwiches.

As well as preparing the various dishes, Pete also talked about the biology and science of eggs. After the dishes were completed, everyone enthusiastically joined in sampling the different options.

Residents and staff spent time discussing the value of eggs in our diet and talked about their likes and dislikes when it came to how they enjoy their eggs ‘in the morning’. They also discussed using eggs in baking, and their favourite traditional cake recipes.

Janet, resident at Victoria Park, said:
“It was eggs all round. Pete was a funny guy.”

Pete Coles, Group Development Chef at HC-One, who delivered the session, said:
“It was wonderful to receive plenty of interaction from the residents who attended!

Getting to chat with those that turned out and create everlasting memories for them was an absolute joy to be involved with and it was wonderful to see many smiling faces.”
