Twilight games are a success at Hinckley care homeHinckley Park care home in Hinckley, Leicestershire, was delighted to be recognised for its team spirit after taking part in regional project, The Twilight Games.

Over the summer of 2018, Residents at Hinckley Park took part in the Leicestershire-wide project, where everyone joined forces to compete in a number of sports, including seated basketball, boccia, and seated volleyball.

The project was thoroughly enjoyed by Residents and staff alike, and everyone has been overwhelmed to now receive their certificates and medals as they won the event’s Spirit of the Games award.

The award acknowledges how Hinckley Park included Residents who normally wouldn’t get involved in such events.

Leicestershire and Rutland Sport has kindly allowed the home to keep the equipment, enabling Residents to engage in similar sports in the home. This will also be used if the home is chosen to participate in The Twilight Games again this year.

One Resident said: “I really enjoyed competing in The Twilight Games. It reminded me of how I used to play sport when I was younger, and also helped to reignite my competitive spirit.”
