Tipton care home celebrates VE dayResidents of Waterside care home came together to recall their own memories of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, which marked the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender.

The 8th May is a date that remains in the minds of many who lived through the war and residents were keen to share their own experiences of what was the world’s most devastating war to date.

Staff held a table top event with reminiscence activities for Residents, as well as entertainment which was provided by Tom Wenlock, to which everyone enjoyed singing and dancing to.

The event was made unique as Residents were provided with ration packs and a lovely homemade cake for all to enjoy. Hats and costumes were also provided for Residents to wear as they further recollected their memories of the war.

Heidi Scott, Home Manager, commented: “The afternoon was full of cheer and celebration as Residents chatted together about the war times. It is important to a lot of people, and it’s such a significant day to remember.”
