Therapy Ponies delight at SwallownestResidents at HC-One’s Swallownest Care Home were thrilled when a group of therapy ponies visited the home.
The home had invited Residents, families and friends and members of the local community to join them as they welcomed the ponies.

Residents loved spending time with the horses. Each Resident got the opportunity to see them as even those who were bed-bound got a special visit.

Resident Charles Wilson, who is nursed in bed, remarked:

“What a wonderful surprise! I loved them!"

Tracy Marsden, Home Manager at HC-One’s Swallownest commented:

“It was a brilliant afternoon with so much laughter in the home! It was just fantastic! The Residents loved this activity so much we have already booked again, and it is another way we can continue to provide the kindest possible care.”

Swallownest is located in Chesterfield Road and offers short and long term care to elderly members of the community needing Residential and Nursing Care.

Animal therapy has been proven to benefit wellbeing, alleviate stress and encourage participation in care homes.

HC-One homes run a varied schedule of activities for residents throughout the year, aimed at keeping them physically and mentally active. HC-One wellbeing co-ordinators work closely with Residents and their families to develop dedicated care plans that suit each individual’s needs.
