Therapy dog delights at Hornchurch care homeResidents at HC-One’s The Hornchurch care home in Hornchurch welcomed their four legged friend, Joey, a Pets As Therapy dog for his weekly visit on Wednesday 18th December.

Pets As Therapy is a national charity which provides visiting services in hospitals, hospices, care homes and schools across the UK with trusted volunteers and their behaviourally assessed animals.

Joey visits The Hornchurch every Wednesday with his owner to spend quality time with Residents, everyone is very fond of Joey and now look forward to his visits. Some Residents enjoy giving Joey lots of strokes and cuddles, while others prefer to feed him treats and chat with his owner about his characteristics.

Tania Banner, Home Manager at The Hornchurch commented: “Joey’s visits have a real positive impact on the wellbeing of our Residents, he can bring back happy memories of former pets for some and for others, is a friendly companion that they look forward to seeing.

“We really appreciate Joey and his owner visiting us and look forward to many more visits in 2020.”
