Therapy dog brings joy to Residents at Cambridge care homeResidents at HC-One’s The Cambridge care home in Chesterton, Cambridge enjoy regular visits from therapy dog, Lucy.

Debbie Collins, Senior Carer at The Cambridge explained:

“One day, while I was at The Cambridge with my dog, Lucy, one of our Wellbeing Coordinators, Ines asked me if I would like to come and bring Lucy to see the Residents as pet therapy.

“I thought it was a good idea as some of the Residents had already met her and loved it when she came in to visit with me. For over three years now, I have been bringing Lucy to the home once a month to spend time with the Residents, she loves to give them all plenty of cuddles and they enjoy feeding her treats.”

The visits are now a high anticipated event for Residents and members of the team at The Cambridge, most people have now built a strong bond with Lucy and love seeing her wagging tail once a month.

Peggy, a Resident at The Cambridge said:

“I am very happy when Lucy visits, she knows where my room is and sits on my lap for a treat. She can always put a smile on my face.”
