Residents at HC-One’s Aston House care home in Hayes were delighted to receive a parcel containing a variety of personalised Christmas cards from people across the United Kingdom, thanks to The Wonderful Xmas Post.
The Wonderful Xmas Post is a project created for people across the United Kingdom, including volunteers, youth clubs, schools and workplaces, to create personalised and handcrafted Christmas cards to be given to older people in care homes, helping to enhance wellbeing during the festive period.
Everyone was both surprised and excited as they each opened an envelope addressed to themselves, containing a beautifully handmade card which was complete with a handwritten festive message.
The atmosphere in the home was an emotional one as Residents opened their cards and shared their favourite Christmas memories, with the cards being specific to each Resident’s likes and hobbies.
One Resident remarked at how surprised she was that the card was cooking themed, and this was her favourite thing to do.
The receiving of cards has been a wonderful way to begin the Christmas celebrations, as Residents and Colleagues look forward to enjoying a Christmas party within the home soon, alongside Relatives and friends.
Seema Jose, home manager, commented: “We are so pleased to have received these beautiful cards. Signing up to this project has been a fantastic way to get everyone into the festive spirit, and has emphasised on the importance of giving to others during this time of year.”
