Brookdale View Resident Roy Hollister took his first trip out of the home ever to Brookdale Park this past week.
Roy can sometimes get a bit anxious and has never ventured past the homes threshhold since moving there, but he stayed calm throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the trip out.
Roy was taken for a gentle stroll around the park and had some friendly chatter with the local dog walkers. The fresh air and sunshine seemed to do the world of good as care colleagues noted that there was a positive difference in Roy’s mind-set that day.
Mr Hollister was very grateful, and has stated that he is happy that he finally trusts someone enough to take him out. Roy remarked:
“I am thrilled to have gone out on this trip, I definitely want to go out again soon!”
The homes Wellbeing Co-ordinator John Fullen, commented:
“I am very proud that Roy took the plunge even though he was anxious at first."
