Hyde’s residential and residential memory care home, The Sycamores, created an extra special ambiance today as this afternoon Residents were off to the ‘Picture House’.
Colleagues transformed the lounge into a theatre and decorated to make it look like an old-fashioned cinema. A projector and surround sound, for the true Picture House effect, was used to show the very popular classic ‘The Sound of Music’.
The Residents were served with hot and cold drinks, and snacks such as flavoured popcorns and doughnuts.
Joan Fogg and Thea Morgan (both pictured), among other Residents, enjoyed watching this classic film and we had lots of singing along to the film. One Resident said, “We enjoyed watching the film with the true theatre experience!”
At the end of the movie, all the Residents said they had really enjoyed themselves and had also had a sense of an ‘outing’.
Everyone enjoyed singing along to the famous songs most of all. One Resident said, “It was great that film, lovely to have been out today!”
Renee Bell, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “This was a success and we can’t wait to get back to the picture house next week to watch another classic film!”
Carol Potts, Care Home Manager, commented, “Amazing how the room was transformed to give the Residents that real sense of an outing which worked very well. Well done Renee!”
