The Elms’ very own gardening clubThe gardening club recently set up at The Elms care home in Peterborough has got off to a great start with Residents getting really stuck in and enjoying being outdoors.

Today the club started by planting a variety of seeds from tomatoes, sunflowers and marigolds to planted peppers, chives and pumpkin seeds. Everyone got their hands dirty from doing some potting which turned out fantastic.

Seven residents joined in today with the potting and they even had time to have a sing-song while they worked. The Residents all had smiles on their faces whilst they potted their seeds. And the afternoon was topped off with a well-earned cold drink and ice-lolly.

Residents Brian Read and Brian Fiveash said that they can’t wait to transfer their plants into raised beds and larger pots.

Everyone is looking forward to the HC-One gardening competition and hope to be in with a chance of a prize for the home.

Home Manager, Katie Coulson, remarked, “It is lovely to see everyone enjoying the garden and working together to prepare for the annual Gardening Competition. We look forward to entering it”
