Tenlands care home celebrate the Queens JubileeResidents at Tenlands, residential and residential dementia care home, in Ferryhill, had a great time celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

A two-day celebration was planned over the bank holiday weekend, as the Platinum Jubilee is a monumental occasion.

Both Resident and staff were involved in the special celebration. As well as volunteers from the local community and an 11-year-old boy, Leon, who lives close by to Tenlands come and perform to all the Residents.

Leon was very excited to perform for the Residents, he commented, “I wanted to do something because COVID was hard for me with my family, so it must have been hard for people who weren’t able to see theirs.”

The kitchen staff worked extremely hard producing an amazing afternoon tea which was enjoyed by everyone. There wasn’t a crumb left in sight!

All the Residents loved Leons performance and the celebration. Nancy a Resident, remarked, “I have never had such a fun filled day in such a long time and hearing that little boy sing made me cry, it was beautiful.”

The Residents and staff had such an amazing couple of days, it really lifted the spirits of all involved.

Nicola Davison, Care Manager, commented, “I am so proud of all the staff, they have come together to make these two days special for everyone. The Residents have thoroughly enjoyed themselves too.”
