Today, White Gables, HC-One Wellbeing coordinator, Katherine Trevor, braved the shave for Macmillan cancer charity.
As staff and residents at White Gables, Skellingthorpe, looked on in wonder and appreciation, senior carer Holly Sewell bravely took up the weapon of choice (clippers set to number 1) and selflessly sheared every hair on Katherine’s head.
Katherine was inspired to “Brave the Shave” when she learnt of the diagnosis of a close HC-One’s colleague family member who recently found out they had terminal cancer.
At the time of her shave Katherine had achieved £145 of her £500 target.
This happily rose quickly to £217 and is steadily rising thanks to the wonder of social media and the generous donations from family, residents and further staff members of the White Gables community.
Katherine is immensely proud of herself for going ahead with the shave and also of her family, friends and colleagues for donating to a charity which carries out invaluable work with those living with cancer which cannot be quantified in words.
White Gables residents Betty and Jim Cownie said that they thought Katherine actually suited the cut and looked amazing.
Home Administrator Karen Holmes said : “I think she’s amazing for doing this. I would never be brave enough to do it. She looks great”.
Deputy home manager Jack Titterton said: “I hope she’s thought it through. Good on her. She Look’s fabulous!”
