Sutherland Court employee publishes first children’s bookSutherland Court care home in Newcastle is celebrating its team member’s achievement as Sue Ferguson has published her first children’s book, Bedtime Tales from the Rook’s Nest.

The book was inspired by the wildlife that Sue often observes in her back garden, which is a haven for birds, squirrels, hedgehogs, and even the occasional deer due to its woodland location.

Bedtime Tales from the Rook’s Nest was initially written by Sue for her grandson Theo. The stories centre on Mummy and Daddy Rock, who recount their adventures of life beyond their nest to their babies Percy and Peggy.

After revealing her book during Christmas 2018, Sue brought copies into Sutherland Court for Residents to read. They were amazed by Sue’s success and really enjoyed hearing all the tales.

One Resident commented: “What a lovely book, I am so happy for Sue becoming a published author.”

Sue said: “I’m delighted that the Residents loved my book. After the success of my first book, who knows where it could take me, as I have many more stories to tell.”
