Surprise party for centenarian at Edinburgh care homeJanet Hunter, a Resident at HC-One’s Murrayfield House Care Home in Edinburgh celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and fellow Residents.

Janet was born in Edinburgh in on 18th June 1918 and brought up in the Murrayfield area. She attended Roseburn Primary School and Boroughmuir High School. 

When she left school Janet worked as a shorthand typist for Life Assurance in St Andrews Square. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed playing badminton and Scottish country dancing. 

Having been a Resident at Murrayfield House for the last eight years the staff wanted to plan something extra special for her milestone birthday. Janet’s birthday day began with a pamper session and visits from her friends and Rev’d Dean Fortekew from The Church of the Good Shepherd gave her a surprise visit. 

The team covered the ballroom with balloons, banners, bouquets of flowers along with Janet’s birthday cards from friends and the Queen. A buffet was prepared by the chef alongside her beautifully decorated birthday cake.

Janet was overwhelmed with joy as she joined her friends and fellow Residents at her surprise party, live entertainment was provided by Scott Neil throughout the afternoon. Afterwards, Janet thanked the team at Murrayfield House for making her day so special.
