Sunshine and smiles for Care Home Open Week at Moss ViewAt Moss View residential, nursing and residential dementia care home, in Liverpool, preparation for Care Home Open Week has begun, with a gardening project getting well underway, as well as plenty of activities and delicious party food planned for the big event on 1st July.

Resident Richard Randscome has been working hard planting seeds and cuttings, ready to be planted in the garden, as well as lots of preparation and planting in the home’s flower beds. Relatives have been on board and have kindly donated pots, plants and seeds, while other Residents have enjoyed making bird boxes and gnomes to go in the garden (see pictured).

Children from Busy Bees children’s nursery in Childwall as well as family and friends’ children have been making some bright yellow and orange handprints to help with the home’s sunshine collage, which will be displayed in the foyer, as part of their ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ theme.

At Moss View, everyone will also be doing a group singalong with Residents, Colleagues and families singing along to the iconic song by Morecambe and Wise, ‘Bring me Sunshine’, which brings a smile to the Residents’ faces every time someone sings it.

There is also entertainment booked in the gardens for both the home’s general unit and memory care unit in the afternoon, with vocalist Mike Massey (who is a firm favourite with Residents).

The home has also booked a company called ‘Dreams and Themes’ to come in, and everyone is delighted to hear they will be brining along a pony and alpaca. Friends from ‘Therapy Dogs Nationwide’ will be calling in to talk to Residents and families too.

There is also entertainment booked in the gardens of the home with vocalist Kevin Mulvaney performing, a firm favourite with Residents!

In terms of food and treats for the big event, Residents have been delighted to hear that the local ice-cream van will pay a visit too, as well as an afternoon of tea and cream cakes, on Friday 1st July.

A raffle will also be held during the week, with all proceeds going to the Residents fund.

Lesley, Wellbeing Coordinator, said, “We are all looking forward to a fun-packed week.”
