Residents at HC-One’s Northview Lodge care home in Sunderland have recently been visited by a scurry of squirrels who have been enjoying the new features in the homes garden.
Last month Northview Lodge maintenance officer Alan Wilson decided to make a bench seat for the squirrels that live close by to Northview Lodge. Residents loved it so much that Alan built a second seat and then a tube where nuts could be stored.
Residents gather each evening to watch the squirrel’s antics and this has been a huge step in maintaining morale amongst staff and Residents at the home.
Patrick Morley, Northview Lodge Home Manager said: "This demonstrates the usual out of the box thinking from Alan. A fabulous new entertainment for Residents that has cost virtually nothing. What a thoughtful thing for Alan to do. I love it!"
