HC-One’s Ashton Grange Care Home in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear is celebrating having received a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The team at Ashton Grange were delighted to have received an impressive CQC report that rated the home as ‘Good’ in all areas, demonstrating that the home is providing high standards of care for Residents, meaning the home is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsible, and Well-Led.
The inspectors were full of praise for colleagues at Ashton Grange, highlighting the kind and caring ways in which they provide care for Residents. A family member attending the home remarked “My relative is thriving, it’s wonderful”, while another commented “the staff are excellent, nothing is a bother to them. They have a fantastic attitude and care for all the residents, family and friends.”
In the report, the home was praised for its personalised approach to care, tailoring activities to each Resident centred around their life and times in years gone by. One Resident used to serve in the Royal Navy, so was brought DVDs of the navy and taken out to the seafront and docks to see the ships when they were in port. Another was a hairdresser, and got to assist the visiting hairdresser whenever they were in the home.
The lengths the team at Ashton Grange went to support relationships with families was also highlighted in the report. For example, those with relatives abroad were helped to use Skype to stay in touch. Colleagues would also voluntarily assist Residents to attend weddings and family parties, so they could catch up with their loved ones without having to worry of being without specialist care if they needed it.
