Sunderland AFC fan meets favourite player at Ashton GrangeJoyce Dimmock, a Resident at HC-One’s Ashton Grange care home in Sunderland and die hard Sunderland AFC had her dreams come true when she received a very special visit on Thursday 30th May.

As a lifelong Sunderland supporter, Joyce has attended countless games over the years, being unable to attend the matches in person due to health reasons has not stopped her supporting her team by listening to every match on her radio. 

The team at Ashton Grange were determined to help make Joyce’s dreams come true, unable to take her to watch a match at the Stadium of Light, the team decided to bring her favourite former Sunderland player to meet her at Ashton Grange.

Kevin Ball kindly agreed to visit the home for afternoon tea and to surprise Joyce, when he arrived Joyce was overwhelmed with happiness. She loved chatting to the man she had watched play her favourite team and thanked him for taking the time to come along to meet her.

During his visit, Kevin also spent time chatting with other Residents and kindly donated a signed Sunderland AFC football shirt for the home to auction with the funds being donated to the Resident’s Comfort Fund.
