Darren Hodge, Clinical Deputy Manager at Brookdale View care home, commented:
"It is estimated that 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. For those of us who work in healthcare it is inevitable that we will care for somebody who has cancer.
Team Brookdale View are proud to have taken part in Cancer Research UK's Race for Life to raise money to help keep finding new ways to fight this awful disease. We ran on behalf of those we love, friends, family and our residents.
I'd personally like to give a huge thank you to everybody in the team who put on their running shoes, tutus and unicorn costumes, and slogged through the rain to raise money for such a worthy cause. An especially big thank you to Jo Parry, who organised the run, signed everybody up for it and threatened consequences for those who didn't turn up. Her boundless enthusiasm brought the team together. She's already planning the next race in October. Thank you, Jo!"

The event has spurred many of the staff on to take up running as a hobby and they’re already looking at preparing for the next charity run.
