HC-One’s Victoria House care home in Stockton recently took part in their own tea trolley competition, where they decorated their tea trolleys and competed with other HC-One homes close to them.
The tea trolley competition was so popular with Residents, that Colleagues decided that they wanted to bring it into their own wellbeing timetable. Currently planned are 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s tea trolley themes for a Wednesday afternoon going forward with a view to add more themes in the future.
Today, the home took part in their 60’s tea trolley celebrated, complete with fancy dress, decorations, music from the period and a nice cup of tea and cake. Once the trolley was complete and the cakes were in position it went for a tour around the care home with Residents enjoying the treats, the music and fancy dress.
One Victoria House Resident said: “I really enjoyed all of the bright colours and the balloons. Wearing the flower headband took me back to when I was youngers listening to all 60’s music.”
Residents can’t wait for next weeks tea trolley celebration, with a 70’s theme in store.
Carly Baker, Victoria House wellbeing coordinator said: “It was really lovely to see the joy on the Residents faces when myself and Joe arrived on each unit. The combination of decorations, fancy dress and music from the decade made the Residents really smile.”
“Must say thank you to our kitchen colleagues at Victoria House who supported by making the cakes and biscuits for the trolley.”
