Stockton care home’s festival brings community together to celebrate autumnA Harvest Festival held at HC-One’s Victoria House Care Home in Stockton-on-Tees helped Residents to meet new people, make new friends and have meaningful moments in the company of others.

The event was also in support of Silver Sunday, which helps combat loneliness within the community and helps to increase happiness and wellbeing.

Victoria House welcomed friends, family and members of the local community and MIND charity to mark the start of the autumn season on Friday 5th October and hosted a range of harvest themed activities including entertainment from singer Janie St John and a hot and cold buffet.

Residents and staff donated food items and distributed the harvest collection to The Trussell Trust, a local company who run a network of over 420 foodbanks across the UK and who partners with local communities to stop UK hunger.

Lesley Jones, Home Manager at HC-One’s Victoria House commented:

“Combining Silver Sunday and Harvest festival gave Residents the opportunity to get to know people in the community and to build relationships with each other.

“The event was a great success and we were so pleased to be able to donate valuable food to The Trussell Trust.”

Relative Diane Everall commented:

“It’s been another wonderful afternoon for everyone here, we have all really enjoyed ourselves.”

Silver Sunday celebrates older people and helps to combat loneliness, while Harvest Festival celebrates food that’s grown and produced on England’s home soil.
