Stockport care home Resident enjoys visit from old friendsA Resident at Appleton Lodge care home in Stockport was delighted to have received a surprise visit on Wednesday 22nd January from three of his oldest friends.

Albert Bateman was extremely pleased to have learnt that three of his oldest friends – Lesley, Peter and Donald – had contacted Colleagues at Appleton Lodge to arrange a surprise lunch for the four of them.

The visit was particularly special as the three friends travelled from Albert’s home town of Blackpool where they still reside.

Being the oldest of the four, the visit was a wonderful way for Albert to reminisce with his friends of the days he would play professional football in Blackpool, and the mischief they would get up to in their childhoods as they each enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the home’s catering team.

Albert remarked how wonderful it was to see them and how shocked he was, but happy to be spending time with them again.

Home manager, Kay Slinger, commented: “It was outstanding to see Albert’s face light up when his friends surprised him here at Appleton Lodge. They were like four young men laughing and recalling some fond memories together. It’s so important to support our Residents in maintaining relationships like this whilst they live with us.”
