Stalybridge care home Residents get crafty for Chinese New YearArts and crafts were underway at Millbrook care home in Stalybridge as Residents prepared for Chinese New Year 2020.

Residents enjoyed showing off their inner artists as they created beautiful Chinese lanterns and wall hangings for the annual event.

As they learned more about Chinese culture, Residents tried writing out words using the Chinese alphabet and took a look at the Chinese Zodiac, which is determined by an individual’s year of birth.

The day was enjoyed by all who took part, as Joan said: “Well I never thought I’d be able to write in Chinese, it’s been interesting.”

Fellow Resident Jean added: “The lanterns and decorations look good when they’re finished, don’t they?”

Abby, Wellbeing Coordinator at Millbrook, commented: “It’s important to explore other cultures and traditions. It expands our world view and helps to make us such a welcoming home.”
