Stalybridge care home go medieval for St George’s DayThe Millbrook residential care home, on Tameside, celebrated St George’s Day today.

Carer, Danielle and Home Manager, Claire Jones, donned medieval clothing and re-enacted the slaying of the dragon with the help of Residents, the story of St George.

The home bought dragon shaped piñatas and stuffed them full of sweets for Residents to slay the dragon and win a prize.

Claire commented, “We also had an English themed feast for our lunch and dinner including black pudding and poached salmon, this was served with bottles of English ale.”

One Resident, when admiring the decorations, said, “Oh my, there are dragons dangling from the ceiling!”

The piñatas went down a storm all the Residents who enjoyed having a go at slaying the dragon.

Claire added, “Today was fun for all Colleagues and Residents; the lovely weather made the day even better! The Residents loved taking part in slaying the dragon and found the fancy dress very amusing.”
