Stalybridge care home braves the shave to raise £500 for Macmillan Cancer SupportHC-One’s Millbrook care home in Stalybridge has braved the shave at its summer fayre to raise a fantastic £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Care Assistants Mary Buckley and Jordan Etchells joined Chef Stephen Haigh for the fundraising challenge, as they were all keen to show their support for the British health care charity.

Brave the Shave is an initiative introduced by Macmillan Cancer Support to raise money in a courageous and bold way, raising more than £22.7 million since 2015.

Stephen was keen to brave the shave for Macmillan, as the charity is very close to his heart after his great grandmother was looked after by Macmillan nurses.

While Jordan took part in the shave as an avid fundraiser, Mary made a last minute decision to participate in the challenge after witnessing first-hand the difference that Macmillan nurses make to people’s lives.

Guests at the summer fayre were delighted to show their support for the courageous trio, while enjoying a number of exciting activities on offer, including face painting, a raffle and a performance from local entertainers, Musical Delights.

Andrew Bradley, Home Manager at Millbrook, said: “We were delighted to support Macmillan Cancer Support by braving the shave at our summer fayre event.

“Our Colleagues and Residents at Millbrook are all really proud of the kind and courageous gesture made by Mary, Jordan and Stephen, as Macmillan is a charity that has touched the hearts of so many people.”
