St Margaret’s day out to ‘Tommy’ war memorialHC-One’s St Margaret’s, residential, nursing and residential memory care home, in Durham took a trip to the war memorial in Seaham.

Many of the Residents decided they would like to visit the war memorial in Seaham before Remembrance Day. The sculpture is 9ft 5ins tall and is known as ‘Tommy’ a WW1 soldier.

Residents wanted to visit the memorial to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The Residents believed it was a very fitting visiting the war memorial just before Remembrance Day.

One Resident, commented, “I’ve had a wonderful day out. The statue is so imposing, we will always remember them.”

Hazel Southern, Care Home Manager, added, “It was great the see the Residents plan the trip and have a lovely time.”
