The staff, Residents, and visitors at
St. Margaret’s in County Durham which offers residential, nursing care and residential memory care, for those living with dementia, have been collecting food for the Harvest Festival and the Residents have enjoyed a trip out to the countryside.
The generous amount of food that was collected has been donated to the Durham Food Bank which is enough for forty-one meals, which is a great achievement.
One Colleague from the Durham Food Bank commented, “This is very generous of the home to provide this food for our charity, thank you”.
One of the Residents, said, “It is lovely being part of something like this and giving things back to the local community”.
Then the Residents enjoyed a trip out the countryside, making the most of the lovely weather whilst they can.
The minibus stopped off at A68 Café and everyone enjoyed an ice-cream whilst taking in the views of the countryside and seeing the colours of the leaves changing on the trees.
One Resident, remarked, “It is lovely to be out and about again and seeing the beautiful views”.
Katherine Swainston, Care Home Manager, remarked, “It is wonderful that we can think others in their time of need and help them and it is great to see the staff, Residents and visitors coming together to help out. It also nice that the Residents can get out about and again and enjoy the fresh air”.
